Definitions

Credential Management Systems: Software used for issuing and managing credentials. Government and other enterprises employ CMS software to issue and manage credentials using an array of devices, including smart cards, USB keys, smartphones, laptops, and desktop computers. 

Credential Management Infrastructure: A comprehensive set of systems, processes, and tools implemented to effectively manage and administer the end-to-end lifecycle of an organization’s credential offerings, including the design, review, approval, development, marketing, enrollment, tracking, issuance, verification, and revocation of all types of credentials offered, such as degrees,certificates, microcredentials and more.
