OCC has several types of alternative credentials in place, including apprenticeships, workforce certificates, and bootcamps. However, not all of these are incremental credentials. That is, they do not all stack into a credit- bearing program. Credit for prior learning can be applied to a degree program, but our process for assessing prior learning currently takes place at the department level rather than at the institutional level.
To better serve our students, job seekers, workers seeking advancement, and employers, we must help to make the entire process transparent and connected so that “no credit is left behind.”
